PAC, Parent Volunteers & Committee Chairs

There are two school governance bodies for JBBP parents: PAC & Site Council.

What is PAC?

PAC is the Parent Advisory Council of the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program at Clarendon School. Every parent is a member of PAC. PAC members can attend monthly PAC meetings (generally the second Thursday of the month), vote on budget issues, and vote to determine the PAC Executive Committee. The PAC Executive Committee is a group of elected parent volunteers who provide leadership to the Parent Advisory Council. PAC parent volunteers raise funds to support the enrichment subjects for all JBBP students and participate in JBBP and school-wide events. Last year we raised approximately $200,000 to support our various enrichment programs such as Japanese, PE, music, art, computer and library. PAC's fundraising efforts also supplement teachers' classroom funds and other activities.

What is Site Council?

The School Site Council consists of 10 members including the Principal, teachers and parents from both the JBBP and the Second Community Program, and non-teaching staff. It holds public meetings once a month to oversee the Academic Site Plan for the whole school. The Site Council manages the budgeting of school resources and is responsible to SFUSD.
