• Cherry Blossom Festival, 4/15-16

Each year Clarendon JBBP participates in the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown, which includes a parade with a JBBPP children's (and parents') contingent. The festival spans two weekends in April: 8-9 and 15-16 (2017).

During this time we cook and serve our famous udon (traditional bowl of noodles made with Clarendon’s secret “dashi” stock and delicious toppings). The Udon Booth is both a successful fundraising event and an opportunity to engage directly with San Francisco's heritage Japanese community.

This is a very fun event, and we hope everyone can come out and support our school. Udon Booth volunteers and donations of bottled water will be appreciated (the former are critical! -- please see your Newsletter for the online sign-up sheet). Please save the dates!

  • Fred Korematsu Day, 1/31

We will be celebrating Fred Korematsu Day with a school-wide assembly from 9:40-10:40 on January 31st (Tues). The assembly will feature special guest Dale Minami, a JBBP parent who led the legal team defending Fred Korematsu. Parents are welcome to attend, and you can find more information here.

It would be great if you could ask about the assembly at home after school. Learn more about this civil rights leader at encyclopedia.densho.org or Korematsu Institute.
